‘Egypt strives to offer healthy drugs at reasonable rates to all people,’ Sisi says

The president made the remark during the inauguration of the huge Egyptian medical city GYPTO Pharma on Thursday, which was designed using cutting-edge technology.

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said that the government’s goal is to offer quality medication to all people at an affordable price, and that the government will seek to build the capacity to produce all appropriate medicines locally in accordance with the highest international standards.

The president made the comment during the Thursday inauguration of the Egyptian medical city GYPTO Pharma, which is packed with cutting-edge technology.

“We began planning for this initiative seven years ago. It took time because we had to ensure that the medication we produced met the highest international standards,” El-Sisi said.

“In two years, we will complete the factory to manufacture plasma. We are bringing a dream to fruition. We have the human resources, which are represented in our large population, to accomplish this,” he stated.

The president has said that “we will do everything in our power to make our own materials for the medicines that we manufacture locally.”

According to the president, “the government intends to manufacture cancer treatment and other very critical medicines in the coming period.”

El-Sisi claimed that the new initiative seeks to manufacture medicines with potent active ingredients that are equal to those manufactured in all developed countries.

“I was upset when some suggested we should get antibiotics from abroad because of the effectiveness of their active substance,” he said, adding that “the effectiveness of the products manufactured in the city will not be 99.9 percent, but 100 percent effective.”

The inauguration was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki, and a host of ministers and senior officials.

Following his comments, the president visited the facility and listened to staff updates on work at the huge factory.

A medical superpower

 GYPTO Pharma would be one of the state’s weapons, providing safe and reliable drugs at affordable rates for Egyptians.

The 180,000-square-metre district, located in El-Khanka, Qalioubiya, is the Middle East’s largest pharmaceutical development center.

GYPTO Pharma is made up of separate service buildings that support the main manufacturing facility.

Because of its relevance, the city project was planned, implemented, and validated in compliance with the most current health and safety regulations.

The vast capability of the new city would assist in supplying superior and inexpensive local drugs to Egypt’s vast market.
